I can’t believe it took me this long to finish this book but so glad I decided to read it to the end. It starts off pretty slow, Sparks was detailed about every day life in every chapter and ngl it got kinda boring about halfway through, and I felt myself getting impatient because it just felt like it was dragging! The twist at the end makes it all worth it! Overall, it was sweet and will have you at the edge of the seat. TRIGGER WARNING TO POTENTIAL READERS: the story involves domestic violence.

The perfect romance/thriller set in a sleepy beach town!

A wonderful read that was hard to put down!

Cried twice. An awesome book.

Someone who rated this book a 1 said it was “predictable.” It was relatively predictable that the two main characters would become involved. However, this book was anything but predictable. Occurrences in the plot were quite surprising and remained surprising to the end. Enjoyed it very much.

Such a great book. I couldn’t put it down. Grab some tissues.

The Guardian is an even better thriller from the same author, but fans of Nicholas Sparks will love this book! I know what I’m talking about because I’m a fan, even though this is one of only five books I’ve read by the author! The love story is the kind of sweet, touching romance you would expect from Nicholas Sparks and, as a thriller, it’s very suspenseful, building to quite a frightening climax! Highly recommended! A pleasure to read!

Ugh, a tough read, but might be a bad experience that can produce a better attitude toward those who suffer this kind of life. Needed the ending.
