Great stories from an incredibly interesting and blessed life. Crowe provides plenty of details about interviews with some of the all time great rock stars, but left me wondering about some of the particulars of his personal life, especially his relationship with his sister Cindy, which seemed to go off the rails at some point without any explanation.

Brought back a flood of memories of music, concerts and the craziness of the ‘70s.

I stumbled upon this memoir somehow in my nightly “can’t sleep” ritual of reading books between 3 and 6 am. I’m so glad I did. I found myself smiling as I read about Cameron Crowe’s adventures in the world of rock and roll with these incredible, flawed and daring culture-shifting artists. Crowe’s love of family and music as a medium for community is palpable in his reflections. Only took a handful of sleepless nights to read, I became fully engrossed in his adventures.

Cameron Crowe has had such big, successful career, I guess I was hoping for more. What? No mention of “Singles”? That this book clocks in at around 220 pages should have been the first tip off.

Everything that I would expect and want from the director of Almost Famous… I was taken on a journey that was familiar and yet new, with a companion that knows how to highlight and color what we are experiencing. In tapping into his memories, many of mine resurfaced, but I can now see them with the same touch of whimsy and wonder that he shares with us. I enjoyed the ride.

Each new story brought to my mind of sitting with friends of my teens. Listening to the music in their basement rooms or cruising streets listing to “Stereo X”. Crowe writes with feeling and purpose that is a pleasure to read.

There was so many moments in Mr. Crowe’s story when I was overcome by emotion and found myself weeping. I cannot recommend this book enough!
