I loved the book except the racist slurs. I only took one star away regarding this as the book was written decades ago. It was a disappointing and disturbing as I have seen the movie and there is no racism.

If you want to read this book, do yourself a favor and buy it in paperback. This eBook version is full of typos and bad formatting that it leads to annoyance and confusion

I can't say enough about this book. Russo has created this magnificent menagerie of colorful characters. Whether or not any place like North Bath could possibly ever exist I often ponder. It is sentimental and warm, but is a fine study of human frailty and mortality. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
